BS Foundation organized the “Celebrating Womanhood” event in 2017 on the occasion of International Girl Child Day, bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders to address pressing issues faced by women and girls at every level.
Event Highlights:
- Focus on Women’s Safety & Empowerment: The primary focus of the event was to create a safe and secure environment for women to move forward in life, free from violence, discrimination, and inequality.
- Addressing Sexual Harassment: Special sessions were conducted to address the challenges women face regarding sexual harassment in various environments such as the corporate world, labor force, and domestic settings.
- Inclusion of Women with Disabilities: The event emphasized the specific issues faced by women with disabilities and their fight for equality and access to opportunities.
- Brainstorming and Collaboration: A key objective of the event was to bring all stakeholders together for a collaborative brainstorming session to discuss solutions and strategies for promoting gender equality and women’s safety.
Key Objectives:
- Raise Awareness: To spread awareness on issues like sexual harassment, domestic violence, and discrimination, particularly in work and home settings.
- Create an Inclusive Society: To highlight and address the challenges faced by women from all walks of life, including those from marginalized communities, and encourage action to create an inclusive and supportive environment.
- Encourage Action: Empower individuals and organizations to take concrete actions towards supporting women and girls’ rights, dignity, and security.
The event provided a platform for open discussions and aimed at creating actionable solutions for a safer, more inclusive future for women and girls in India.
